About Me
My name is Bradley Brimacombe. I’m a painter/ printmaker from Bangor in Northern Ireland. My love for art started at a very young age when I used to watch my dad showing off his simple doodles of dragon heads and bat mobiles. Those quick sketches lead to art being my number one passion in school whether I was graffitiing my maths work books or drawing on something I should’ve been I was never long without a pencil in my hand. I then went from Connor House to Bangor Grammar and if anyone needed to find me I was in the art department. After the Grammar I went to SERC to get my foundation diploma. During this year I practiced many art techniques but my main favourite was drypoint etching. My etchings captured local everyday moments of people going from A to B. I then continued my printmaking path in the University of Ulster until one day I decided to browse the Terry Bradley Bangor gallery. Seeing pieces such as ‘Safe Place’ and ‘Hope’ inspired me to pick up a paint brush. During this time I worked in a hardware store so MDF boards and emulsion tester pots were easy access to me and to this day I still paint on MDF boards using emulsion and must have a collection of over 100 tester pots. Winning the 2023/ 24 Bradley art prize for the over 23 age category has given me a huge push to pursue a life of art. From exhibiting alongside Terry Bradley in the titanic building, exhibiting internationally and taking part in local art nights I have enjoyed every minute that has lead me here and I am very excited to see what’s next for me
